In Honor & Memory
Banner Memorial Fund for Search Dog Safety
Established in memory of Canine Banner who gave her life for the mission.
This fund is set up to honor K9 Banner who died in the line of duty, searching for a missing person. Banner was 6 years old and a highly successful search, rescue and recovery dog. Your donation will help us to provide safety equipment and education for search dog teams.
Flame Tree Banner Bright was born August 9, 2015, just outside of Denver, at Hunter’s Goldstrike Golden Retrievers. Banner introduced her handler Linda to the world of SAR. Very much a partner, she gave new meaning to the word teammate. Banner loved to work, bringing to it joyful enthusiasm and delicate precision. Anyone who ever watched her could see the pure joy on her face as she “chased odor” with her nose high in the wind. She was crossed trained in both Air Scent Live Find and HRD.
In her career, Banner passed multiple certification tests with flying colors, participated in many searches with Linda, and brought closure to many families. In the field, Linda prized Banner for her independence, range, intelligence and cooperation. Her work wasn’t limited to just the SAR world. She was also a therapy dog to dementia patients who once loved dogs, but could no longer have them.
Banner had enormous ball drive, loved possession, and did not like to give up the ball. She loved being outside in the sun, playing Kong with Robert in the backyard, and the long runs with him every morning. Her best moments were the long tummy rubs, preferably with a toy in her mouth.
This work, however, is not without risk and Banner paid the ultimate price. We are grateful to have known her, and will always remember her. Banner, you will always be by our side.
